HOW CLEAN IS YOUR WATER?
One of our favorite services we offer is providing a water analysis for new and existing customers and helping them balance the chemicals in their pool or spa. It is so much fun for us to see and interact with our customers on a frequent basis!
If you have never been to our store and gotten your water tested this is what it entails. We request that you at least bring the amount of water that this size of bottle will hold. We would be happy to provide you with the bottle you see here. Just ask us when you come in! *NOTE: No Pickle Jars please! The acid will remain even after washed out and will distort the test. Hot water will also distort a test, so please don’t bring in water that has been left in your car for a long time.* Please reach down elbow deep to get your water sample. Skimming the top of the water will not give you accurate test results. |

When you arrive to our store with your water sample, we start off by asking 4 important questions:
1. What size is your pool or how many gallons of water does it contain? This helps us to accurately calculate the amount of chemicals your pool will need once we complete our test.
2. Is your pool running on a Chlorine System or Salt System? If it is running on a Salt System we will need to know the brand of Salt System that you have. Each Salt System requires the salt level to be within different number ranges so this too helps us to accurately calculate the amount of salt your pool will need once we complete our test.
3. What type of filter do you have? Sand, Cartridge or DE? This is important to know because some chemicals need to be placed in the pool differently for each type of filter.
4. Is your water currently clear? Our test does not show that your pool has cloudiness or algae growth so it is important for us to know what it looked like before you brought in your sample to help you in the best way we can to get things back to swim ready.
The water analysis system we use is a handheld professional pool photometer that directly measures the seven primary tests of Free Chlorine (DPD), Total Chlorine (DPD), Bromine (DPD), pH, Alkalinity,
Calcium Hardness, and Cyanuric Acid directly on a digital display. We test Copper and Iron levels in addition to the primary chemicals and have a manual Phosphate Test. For Salt Pools we also have a separate digital tester to read the salt level in the water.
Throughout the test we use this template to fill in the results. We will then write down for you step by step instructions of the quantity of chemicals that are needed for your pool and when/how to put them
into the pool. We will go over it all with you and answer any questions that you have.
Chlorine Pools should be tested weekly.
Salt Pools should be tested every 2-3 weeks.
We also test Spa Water!
